Obesity – prevalence rates among adults
Currently, obesity is considered as a chronic metabolic disease occurring at any age. It is manifested in excessive body weight gain mainly due to excessive accumulation of adipose tissue, accompanied by an increase in the general morbidity and mortality of the population. The incidence of obesity in civilized society is increasing regardless of hereditary factors (no changes in the genetic pool). The table shows the percentage of the population that is obese.
